Welcome to Sibley Elementary School where we have amazing staff that believes every child deserves an excellent education with a wide variety of experiences. We believe in creating a positive culture that uses effective teaching strategies where all students have high levels of learning and are engaged. Our mission is to develop the maximum potential of the whole learner by creating a school environment that nurtures life-long academic, emotional and social growth.
I am an Albert Lea High School graduate and continued my education at St. Cloud State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary and Special Education in 1994. I continued my education with the University of Minnesota and received a Masters of Education Degree in 1999. In 2010 I graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with my Specialists Degree in Administration.
I started my career as a special education teacher in Austin, MN as an emotional/behavioral disorder teacher at the elementary level for three years. I spent another two years at the middle school here in Albert Lea team-teaching 7th grade emotional/ behavioral disorders. The following 12 years I taught 2nd grade before moving into the role of an intervention teacher for reading, math and behavior support. In 2012 I switched gears to the administration side of education. I have been the principal at the Area Learning Center and assistant principal at Albert Lea High School and Southwest Middle School for the past eight years. I am thrilled to be here at Sibley Elementary as the principal where I am still able to work with students and staff by being an integral part of the educational experience and instructional prowess.
I live in Albert Lea with my husband Chad and our two sons. Caden is a senior and Carson is a freshman at Albert Lea High School. I love watching them play hockey… year round. Caden enjoys being with his friends, playing hockey, golfing, and wakeboarding. Carson loves to be out on his boat fishing or in the winter in his ice house fishing, riding the ranger in the woods, and jet skiing. I love spending time with family, watching my boys at their activities, being outdoors, boating on the lake, and reading.
I am excited to work together with you to make this year a great year where every learner feels safe and supported while growing academically, socially and emotionally.
