We are excited to announce the start of Kindergarten registration for the 2026-2027 school year at Albert Lea Area Schools. To be eligible for Kindergarten, students must be five (5) years old on or before September 1, 2026. All incoming Kindergarteners are encouraged to complete Early Childhood Screening if they haven’t done so already. For your convenience, families can choose to enroll online OR attend in-person registration.
In-person registration will be held at Brookside Education Center, located at 211 West Richway Drive, Albert Lea, MN 56007 on the following dates:

To complete the enrollment process in-person, please bring the following documents with you:
1. Completed registration forms (if you did not receive a mailing with these forms, you can fill out a hard copy at Brookside or request another mailing be sent to you by contacting Dani Bryant at 507-379-4806 or Dani.Bryant@alschools.org.
2. Birth Certificate or Hospital Birth Record, if available
3. Immunization records, if completed outside of Minnesota

School of attendance is determined by the student's home address. If you live outside of the district and would like to request open-enrollment with Albert Lea Area schools, please also fill out the requiredOpen-Enrollment form.
Children in this program are provided with an outdoor classroom environment to explore the natural surroundings around the Brookside Education Center area. Activities are focused on the surroundings of nature and the outdoors through a curriculum. Students enrolled in this program will be outside the majority of class time, except in severe weather. Activities include daily hikes along nature trails, digging in the sand pit, sledding during the winter months, and discovering more about the wonders of the great outdoors. Students must come to school prepared with appropriate clothing for the weather.
