Albert Lea Area Schools has implemented the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for the 2024-25 school year.

What does this mean for me and my students who attend the school(s) identified above? All enrolled students are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge to your household each school day.

Do I still need to complete an Application for Educational Benefits form? Yes, please complete the form by paper or online (see links below). Our school is eligible to receive additional state and federal funds based on the number and/or percentage of students enrolled who reside in households that meet established federal income guidelines. We use the Alternate Application for Educational Benefits to collect household information. The application also helps our district qualify for education funds and discounts. Please help our schools by completing and submitting the form to your school OR mailing it to:

Jolene Svendsen; Southwest Middle School; 1601 W Front Street; Albert Lea, MN 56007

If you have any questions, please contact Jolene Svendsen (jolene.svendsen@alschools.org or 507-379-5300).

Your student(s) may qualify additional benefits such as reduced fees or the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) which is a federal temporary emergency nutrition benefit that is loaded onto electronic cards for families to purchase food. At public schools, your application also helps us qualify for education funds and discounts.
