Communicable Diseases and Conditions

Communicable diseases are illnesses caused by germs that can be spread through person-to-person contact or shared objects. Albert Lea Area Schools follow the "Infectious Diseases In Childcare Settings and Schools" guidelines developed by the Hennepin County Human Services and Public Health Department when deciding if a student should be sent or kept home from school. Please notify your child's building health clerk if your student has a communicable condition like chickenpox, strep throat, or head lice.

More information is provided below about the various communicable diseases.
