Albert Lea Swimming Lettering Criteria:
Swimmers who compete in the Big 9 Conference and Section Meet will be awarded a varsity letter.
Swimmers who are a senior and in good standing will earn a varsity letter.
Managers who complete two season will earn a varsity letter.
*Swimmers must finish the season and do so without any violations or suspensions in order to earn their varsity letter.
The purpose of the Albert Lea Girls Swimming team captains is to model the behaviors and actions that meet exemplary expectations of Albert Lea Swimming and to lead the team in every aspect.

Captains are expected to be a leader in and out of the pool, a role model within the community and school and a conduit between their team and their coaches. This means the Captains should:
Be a good role model – Honest• Dedicated• Inspiring• Respectful• Dependable
Abide by the drug, alcohol and hazing policy set by MSHSL
Attend/participate in all fundraisers
Lead by example and always strive to do your best
Recognize team needs
Help the team set goals
Speak your mind in a positive manner
Keep the team in line, both inside and outside of school
Focus on academics
Be on time and coachable
Communicate with head coach regarding any team issues, conflicts, questions, wants and needs
Captains who are unable to complete their captain duties or violate team rules will lose their captainship.
2019 Prospective Captains MUST APPLY & INTERVIEW.
Prospective captains will apply with a short essay and interview with the coaching staff. Candidates should be entering their 10th grade year or higher. After the interview, the candidates will be recommended to the team for voting. Only candidates who apply and interview will be allowed on the ballot, pending coach approval, after the interview. Voting will take place on Friday, August 16th. Each swimmer will vote for up to 2 captains. Candidates with the most votes will be selected as captains (3 max).
