ALHS Concert Choir students were able to hear the fantastic Augustana Choir from Sioux Falls today during 4th hour. Excellent music shared between these two choirs.

Halverson's VIP Breakfast was a fantastic success! It was wonderful to see our families in the building, enjoying breakfast and engaging in math games together. Thank you all for making it a great start to our day!

Southwest's Math Masters teams had a great time at their meet today in Austin! We had a team place 3rd and another place 5th. One student was the overall champion and multiple students placed in different categories. Thank you to Mrs. Hundley & Mrs. Weitzel for coaching our teams!

After the March blizzard, the students had a wonderful time outside, enjoying the fresh air and building a snowman!

Wednesday, March 5, 2025, will be an e-Learning Day. Students are expected to complete ONE Choice Board to be turned in to their classroom teacher no later than 3-days following the e-Learning Day. Please check your email for instructions on accessing a choice board if you do not already have a physical copy. Stay warm!

On Monday, March 10, the Albert Lea High School Band department will present a concert in honor of Music In Our Schools Month. The performance will be at 7 p.m. in the High School Auditorium, and will feature Tiger Band, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band, as well as selected events from the Regional Solo and Ensemble Contest. The Tiger Band, which is made up of mostly eighth and ninth grade students, will perform three works including “Fragile” by Randall Standridge. The Symphonic Band will perform two pieces including “Waves of the Revolution” by Sean O’Laughlin. The Concert Band, made up of mostly juniors and seniors, will perform “Flight of the Thunderbird” by Richard Saucedo and two pieces by one of the foremost early 20th century band composers, Percy Grainger. The Symphonic and Concert Bands will also perform two works combined: “The Cowboys” by John Williams, arranged by Jay Bocook, and “Sleeping Place of the Stars” by Ralph Ford. The ALHS Clarinet Choir, which earned a superior rating and Best in Site award at Regional Solo and Ensemble Contest, will perform an arrangement of Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.” The bands are directed by Suzanne Mauer. Admission to the concert is free for all, but donations are encouraged to offset expenses of the event.

The students had a great time playing 9 Square in P.E. today! Thank you, Mr. Ille, for making physical education so fun and engaging!

The Broken Cheems were 1 of 54 middle school teams to compete at the MN State Robotics Competition. They played 8 qualifying rounds where they were ranked 14th out of 54! They were part of the first round of elimination matches, but they were unable to advance further in the competition. Great job to the Broken Cheems, and great job to all of the robotics students for this year as the season comes to a close.

The second and third-grade music performance was absolutely wonderful! Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make this event so special. A huge shoutout to Miss Hamvas for her hard work and dedication in bringing it all together!

Thursday is Pajama Day for Halverson as we wind up a great month of celebrating 'I Love to Read'.

Consistent school attendance is essential for student success! When students attend school regularly, they build strong learning habits, stay engaged with their classmates, and make steady academic progress. Every day in the classroom is an opportunity for growth, collaboration, and new experiences that can’t be replaced. We understand that occasional absences happen, but missing school too often can make it harder for students to catch up and stay on track. Our 4th and 5th graders are excited to present their music performance on April 4th at 2:00 PM! This special performance is inspired by the book Ada’s Violin and showcases their hard work and creativity. We look forward to seeing you there!

Halverson’s fantastic fourth graders wrapped up their Wit & Wisdom module centered on Hatchet. They showcased their learning by decorating their hallway with story summaries and displaying creative dioramas in the media center. A wonderful celebration of knowledge and imagination!
