We hope to see you tonight!

I'm over at Southwest Middle School and I'm so impressed with how many kids that we have out for activities! And, the outstanding job that middle school A.D. Harrison Koetz is doing.--the future is looking bright for the Tigers !!

The students in Miss Mueller's first grade class took some time to reflect on their school day by participating in an activity where they shared a “rose” (a highlight of their day) or a “thorn” (something that wasn’t as great). Each student rolled a ball to the next person to take a turn, creating a fun and engaging way to express their thoughts.
This activity helped the students practice communication skills while building a sense of community in the classroom. I encourage you to ask your child about their "rose" and "thorn" from today!

Amazing night for Activities. Our Cross Country meet is starting at Bancroft Park with Boys Soccer at Hammer Complex. Go Tigers !!

Great day of Always Learning in Albert Lea. Our cohort of teachers are continuing their LETRS training. Our staff are committed to meeting the needs of each student every day.

We would like to update parents and guardians on a social media post that has been misinterpreted across the nation. When we learned of this initial post that had a school named Southwest on it, we immediately contacted our school resource officers, Officer Huse & Officer Conn. Upon investigating, we were informed that there is an underperforming list of Georgia schools circling around Snapchat. The “targeted assistance” list included a school named Southwest Middle School that was to receive targeted academic supports. Unfortunately, the misinformation led to some putting this information on social media with the wrong information and context. At no point were Albert Lea Area Schools identified nor in danger. We will continue to make our students and staff our top priority by ensuring their safety. We value and appreciate the support from Albert Lea Police Department and Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office and will continue to partner with them to ensure the safety of students and staff members.
Thank you for your continued support of the Albert Lea Area Schools.
