🎉 Huge congratulations to Halverson's Math Masters team for their amazing accomplishments at today’s competition! 🧠✏️
Special shoutout to Ezra, who placed 9th out of 100 students in the individual round and earned a ribbon for his outstanding performance! 👏🏅
We’re also incredibly proud of our team round crew - Ezra, Kenny, Eleanor, Jordan, and Ramon who worked together with focus and determination to earn 4th place out of 22 teams! 🥳 They each received ribbons for their hard work and teamwork!
Way to go, Halverson Math Masters! You represented our school with excellence, and we couldn’t be prouder!

🎬 Congratulations to ALHS Students! 🎬
Mr. Haney’s College-in-the-Schools American Government students annually participate in C-SPAN's national StudentCam documentary competition. The 2025 competition invited students in grades 6–12 to create a short documentary on the theme, “Your Message to the President.”
We’re proud to share that ALHS students Bryant Johnston, Ben Schultz, and Sam Stay were recognized as Third Prize Winners in the High School Central Division for their documentary, Energy in America.
They were also the only team from Minnesota to earn this honor — way to represent, Tigers!

Learning + Sunshine = A Perfect Day! ☀️📚
How do you enjoy the beautiful Minnesota weather without missing a beat of learning? You take the read-aloud outside, of course!
Our 4th graders soaked up the sun and some great literature as they brought their Wit & Wisdom learning outdoors. Fresh air, focused minds, and fantastic stories! What more could we ask for?
Way to go, 4th grade! 💙

Shoutout to Two of Halverson’s Finest! 💙
A huge THANK YOU to our amazing Administrative Assistant, Miss Barb, and our caring Health Clerk, Miss Kris! Your dedication, kindness, and hard work make Halverson a better place every single day. From keeping things running smoothly to taking care of our students with compassion, you are truly the heart of our school.
We appreciate all you do for our students, staff, and families. Halverson wouldn’t be the same without you!

Halverson's 5th grade Math Masters are heading to their competition this Thursday, and we couldn't be more proud! Our students and staff want them to know, we believe in you, and we’re cheering you on every step of the way.
Give it your best, Math Masters! You’ve got this!

We are loving the spring weather here at HW and seizing the opportunities to enjoy it! Our kindergarten crew outside during PE today!

🚌💛 Happy Bus Driver Appreciation Day! 💛🚌
Today we’re giving a big shoutout to the incredible bus drivers who safely transport our students each and every day. You are the first to greet them in the morning and the last to send them home with care—and we are so grateful for your kindness, patience, and dedication.
Thank you for all that you do! 🙌 #ThankYouDrivers #BusDriverAppreciation #WeLoveOurDrivers #HalversonPride

We are excited to invite you to visit the Albert Lea Art Center to see an incredible display of artwork created by students from across the district! Our halls are filled with creativity, and this exhibit is a wonderful way to showcase the talent and imagination of our young artists.
Take some time to stop by and enjoy the vibrant, thoughtful, and inspiring pieces our students have worked so hard on. We are proud of their accomplishments and can’t wait for you to see what they’ve created!
Let’s celebrate the arts and the amazing talent in our schools!

We want to extend a big thank you to our School Resource Officer for visiting Halverson and spending time with our students last week!
Officer Huse spoke with students about a variety of important topics, helping to build trust, promote safety, and support positive relationships within our school community. Our students appreciated the opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the role of a police officer in and out of school.
We’re grateful for the partnership and continued support—thank you for being a valuable part of our Halverson family!

Thank You for a Wonderful Carnival Night!
A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Halverson School Carnival! The event was a tremendous success! It wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support of our volunteers, staff, and families.
From running games and serving food to helping with setup and cleanup, your time and energy made the evening so special for our students and community. It was a joy to see so many smiling faces and families having fun together.
We’re so grateful to be part of such a caring and connected school community. Thank you for making the night one to remember!

We loved having members of the Albert Lea Police Department join us for breakfast at Sibley today! Thank you to Officer Huse, Officer Taylor, Officer Gaul, and Officer Witham for taking time out of your busy day to spend with our students and staff. Your presence meant a lot to us!

The dress rehearsal for our 4th and 5th grade music program was a great success! Our students have been working incredibly hard, and Miss Hamvas has put together a fantastic performance. We are excited to share it with caregivers on Friday at 2:00!

Real world skills are part of the daily grind at ALHS. The "chicken project" in Ag Science finished with the final step. Farm to table!

Southwest middle school 7th grade art students have been busy making Paper mache Greek vases!

Purple Day at Southwest Middle School in support of those living with epilepsy.
Halverson Penny Wars is getting exciting! As we kick off Day 3, we already have three classes working on their second bucket - Mrs. Hegwood’s, Miss Lunning’s, and Miss Mueller’s classes are leading the charge!
The competition runs until the end of the school day on Friday, so there’s still time to join the fun. Thank you to all the students and families who are participating and supporting this event!
Keep those pennies coming!

The 2024-2025 Tiger Yearbook program has been awarded gold status by Jostens, our yearbook publishing company. The National Yearbook Program of Excellence awards gold to yearbook programs who have met all their deadlines, featured over half of the student body three times or more, and boosted yearbook sales from previous years. This is an incredible achievement by our students and a testament to all their hard work.
Mrs. Nelson's advisory class at Southwest Middle School (pictured here) led the charge on an eyeglass donation earlier this year. With the help of everyone at Albert Lea Area Schools they were able to donate 93 pairs of glasses to the local lions club who will use them for people in need. Thank you to everyone who help support this cause.
