🎶 Hawthorne had the opportunity to enjoy a special performance from Son de Cuerdas today! Students listened to beautiful music played on the piano, harp, and flute. Their music comes from Latin America, Hispanic countries, and Mexico, giving our students a wonderful chance to experience different cultures through music. We are so excited to welcome Halverson’s 2026-2027 incoming kindergarteners to Kindergarten Orientation tonight (Thursday 5/7) from 5:30–6:30 PM in the media center at Halverson! What a wonderful day at Halverson Elementary! Our kindergarten and 1st grade students put on an amazing informance, showcasing all they’ve been learning in music class with Ms. Hamvas.

Halverson had the pleasure of hosting author Coach Sloth today! 🦥 📚
He talked to kids about the writing process, the importance of reading, and the value of hard work. Students also got to participate in a skit with an anti-bullying message.
A few lucky paw drawing winners from each grade level got to eat lunch with Coach Sloth!

Students explored all the opportunities waiting for them next year including band 🎺🎶, choir 🎤🎵, and orchestra 🎻🎼. They even got to try out instruments and participate in fun choir exercises 🎶👏
They also met with Mr. Johnson, who shared what middle school life is all about and helped ease some of those nerves about the transition 💬💡

🌳✨ Our 3rd graders have been busy learning about Arbor Day and why trees are so important to our world! From providing oxygen to giving homes to animals, they discovered just how much trees do for us every day.
The best part? Each student received their very own tree to plant! 🌱💚 We can’t wait to see these little trees grow right alongside our students.
