Be sure to check out our office windows. They’ve been given a fantastic new look, and they look amazing!
This fabulous featured student earned his second positive office referral and is the first to have his picture taken by our brand-new wrap. Congratulations! 👏
Stop by and see Halverson. We’re looking better than ever!

We’re still thinking about Friday… our 2nd and 3rd graders absolutely stole the show! 🎤✨ From start to finish, they had the crowd smiling, clapping, and maybe even singing along. Safe to say we’ve got some stars in this building! 🌟🐯

Families, don’t forget they’ll be performing again for you at 2:00 today! We can’t wait to see you there! ❤️💙

In Mrs. Severtson’s room, students celebrated reaching their reading goals in the most delicious way… with a fondue chocolate fountain! Their hard work, dedication, and love for reading truly paid off.
At Hawthorne, we know that when you dip into a good book, great things happen… and sometimes, a little chocolate too! 😉👏

Teacher of the Year Reception will be held this Wednesday, April 1st at 3:45 p.m. in the ALHS Commons.

It’s a close race - every coin counts!
Bring your coins to help your class finish strong.
We’ll have two winning classes - one for the most money raised and one for the most coins collected!
Let’s make the final day a fantastic one, Halverson!

Today Hawthorne celebrated the last day before spring break with Friendship Fest! Students enjoyed time together playing games, sharing laughs, and celebrating the importance of kindness and friendship.
It was a wonderful way to wrap up the week and head into spring break with full hearts and big smiles.
Have a safe and fun spring break, Hawthorne Tigers! 🌸☀️

Yesterday, Mrs. Schewe’s 4th grade class enjoyed the beautiful weather by heading outside for a Geometric Shape Walk! Students explored their surroundings and identified different shapes based on their attributes.
Ask your student what they discovered! Can they tell you:
-What attributes make a parallelogram?
- What makes a rhombus unique?
- What defines a trapezoid?
It was a great day for hands-on learning and fresh air! 🌳 Hawthorne Tigers love finding math everywhere! 🐯
Southwest Middle School team 24118A, the BOBomelons, completed at the middle school state robotics competition on March 5 & 6. They were ranked 25 out of 59 teams, completed in seed 14 in the elimination matches. While they lost in the first round of elimination matches, they were given the ENERGY AWARD! They represented Southwest Middle School and Albert Lea with positive energy and vibes throughout the competition! Congratulations, BOBomelons!!! Also, a big congratulations to team 24118D, the Mechanical Dragons for competing at State!

Miss Dormandy supports our students, families, and staff in so many ways each and every day. From offering a listening ear, helping students navigate challenges, and connecting families with resources, she makes Hawthorne a kinder, stronger, and more supportive place for everyone.
We are so grateful for the care, compassion, and dedication she shows our Hawthorne community all year long.
Thank you, Miss Dormandy, for everything you do for our Hawthorne Tigers! 💙❤️🐯

Students in Mrs. Madore’s classroom have been working hard to find text evidence to support their answers while reading. By highlighting the parts of the text that prove their thinking, their hard work lights up right on the page! 📖🖍️
It’s a fun way for students to practice close reading and show exactly where they found their answers in the text.
Way to go, Hawthorne Tigers! 🐯 Keep showing your thinking with strong text evidence! ✨

Just a friendly reminder that red donation envelopes for Paws for a Cause are due this Friday!
Thank you for helping us unleash our Tiger spirit and support all of our amazing Hawthorne students. Every donation goes right back to our kids for activities, field trips, school-wide events, and more!
Let’s finish strong, Tigers! 🐯💙❤️
