Tiger Students, Families, and Albert Lea Community,
The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Department, Albert Lea Police Department, Albert Lea Area Schools, and Albert Lea High School continued to investigate throughout last night and today on the Snapchat, Instagram, and other social media posts that have been circulating among students, families, and community members. We were able to determine there is no credibility to those posts. We were able to determine the origin of the posts. The school district and law enforcement take this type of behavior very seriously as it has had a huge impact on our educational system and overall community. The school district is currently using its disciplinary procedures for this situation, and law enforcement is following the statutory process for this case.
We are grateful to the many students, families, and community members who partnered with the district and local law enforcement to ensure we maintain a safe and healthy learning environment and community.
With Tiger pride,
Dr. Steven Heil, Superintendent
Sean Gaston, ALHS Principal
Amy Stiehl, ALHS Assistant Principal
Johanna Thomas, ALHS Assistant Principal

Earlier this evening, law enforcement notified Albert Lea Area Schools and Albert Lea High School about Snapchat posts that have been circulating among students and across other social media platforms. Law enforcement has been interviewing students connected to the posts to assess the credibility of the threat. At this time, they have advised that school should proceed as normal tomorrow. Out of an abundance of caution, law enforcement will have an increased presence at Albert Lea High School to provide additional security and reassurance for staff, students, and families.
We are grateful to the many students, families, and community members who quickly brought these posts to our attention. Your awareness and partnership are essential in helping us maintain a safe school and community.

One Team, One Dream!

Our Lakeview students have been busy these past few weeks diving into learning, meeting with their buddies, enjoying breakfast with our Albert Lea police officers, and welcoming special guests for Readers Theatre. It has been an amazing few weeks of learning and building connections.

Thank you for your continued and generous support of Hawthorne Students! We are getting closer and closer to our $15,000 goal. Donation envelopes are due on September 26th!

🌲✨ Camping Adventures at Hawthorne in Mrs. Sletten’s Class! ✨🌲
This week students explored camping to build vocabulary and imagine new experiences. They played a fun “camping game” using flashlights to peek into lanterns, then practiced describing, reasoning, and predicting as they worked together to guess the hidden objects.
Hands-on learning + teamwork = one great week at Hawthorne! 💡🌟

The 5th graders at Halverson are strumming their way to success! 🎶 Our students are learning ukulele chords and already making great sounds together. Can’t wait to hear the music they’ll create! 🌟🎵

🌟 This amazing group of kids from Hawthorne took a walk through the Albert Lea community today, and along the way they showed what it means to be good citizens! 🐾 They picked up trash, helped keep our town clean, and even made a stop at the community garden where they each got their own mini pumpkins. 🎃💙💛 Our Tigers are truly amazing!
