Monday, November 11 is Veterans Day. Halverson is celebrating Veterans Day with an assembly starting at 9:00am. All are welcome.
Thank you Post 56 Honor Guard and Greg Sundholm for volunteering your time.
To all Veterans - THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!

🚜⚙️📊Today, over 250 of our ALHS 9th graders took part in the "Made in Albert Lea" tour, and what an incredible experience it was! 🚜⚙️📊
Students had the unique opportunity to visit two local employers each, getting a firsthand look at potential career paths and the inspiring work happening right here in our community. Huge thank you to our 11 amazing partner employers who welcomed our students with open arms, knowledge, and inspiration: Arcadian Bank, Crossroads Trailers, Design Ready Controls, Good Steward Consulting, intellicents, Lou-Rich, MN Corrugated Box, Ruble Cattle Co., St. John's Lutheran Community, and Thorne Crest.
Through this tour, students not only gained insight into diverse industries but also had the chance to explore the real-world applications of their studies and spark ideas for future career pathways. Field trips like this one empower our students to imagine their own futures right here in Albert Lea, showing them that their career dreams are possible with the right skills and dedication! 🌟💼

Happy 50th Day of School!

This fabulous group of student leaders is rehearsing for our Veterans Day Readings!

Congratulations to Eshaa as she has been selected as Southwest Middle School's next standout student!

Principal Larson shared the book We Belong by Laura Purdie Salas with all Halverson students, sparking discussions about the importance of each student as part of the Halverson community. Students decorated puzzle pieces, which were then assembled on a bulletin board with help from some of our 5th graders. At Halverson, We Belong Together!

I am excited to share how fortunate our students are to have wonderful volunteers participating in our building’s Reader’s Theater. These dedicated individuals bring stories to life, acting out some of the students’ favorite tales, creating an engaging and joyful learning experience. The enthusiasm and creativity of our volunteers not only foster a love of reading but also leave lasting memories for our students.
Thank you to all who contribute their time and talent to make Reader’s Theater such a special event!

Today, over 50 ALHS and Area Learning Center (ALC) students had the exciting opportunity to attend the Construct Tomorrow event in Rochester! 🎉🔨
This hands-on event further introduced our students to skilled trades like electrical work, carpentry, welding, and more. Through interactive activities and face-to-face conversations with industry professionals, our students gained valuable insights into these rewarding career paths. 💡👷♂️👷♀️

🤖 4th-grade students are learning to code Ozobot robots with the Ozobot Paths Challenge! Mrs. Seeger knows how to make lessons about perseverance fun and engaging! 🤖

Albert Lea High School hosted our 3rd annual College and Career Exploration Fair. Students had the opportunity to learn about future educational and career possibilities thanks to over 100 organizations taking time to share information. A huge thank you to all of the local business and colleges who participated. #tigerpride

Thanks to Halverson's wonderful art teacher, Mrs. Bremer, our fifth graders made Veteran's Day placemats. I can only imagine the smiles on the Veteran's faces when they see these creatively decorated placemats. We thank the Veteran's for their service.

Kindergartners dove into reading the story Boxitects with Mrs. Seeger during a recent Media lesson. Students used their imaginations and made creations from cardboard. Their unique designs allowed them to explore and be creative through hands-on play, fostering a love for STEM concepts in a fun and interactive way.
Job shadowing is a great way to explore career opportunities and build connections. Thank you to the Shell Rock River Watershed District for providing a job shadow experience to one of our students today. If you have interest in job shadowing, contact your school counselor. #tigerpride

Our fifth grade students are so engaged with our new curriculum, Wit & Wisdom. They had great discussions regarding the discoveries made by Lewis & Clark and how their discoveries changed the United States. Our wonderful fifth grade teachers, Mrs. Stadheim and Mrs. Wescott bring the topics to life.

Halverson has a great reading program, The Hollow Tree Reading Program.' Kenny just completed 10 chapter books and he gets to come to the media center and pick out a new chapter book and some special prizes for all of his great reading. We are fortunate to have Mrs. Thompson as our media clerk. She motivates and inspire our students to keep on reading.
