On Thursday, 250 Southwest Middle School 6th grade students toured local manufacturers, Lou-Rich and Design Ready Controls. This exposure to two of Albert Lea's manufactures provides students with an up-close look at manufacturing opportunities here in our community. The tours are part of the Youth Skills Training program aimed at increasing student exposure and experience to manufacturing opportunities. Exposing students to manufacturing at an early age sparks curiosity and helps them connect their education to real-world opportunities. It broadens their understanding of diverse career paths, highlights the importance of skilled trades, and encourages them to consider high-demand fields they may not have previously known about.

Lakeview 1st graders did an amazing job collaborating to sort digraphs with partners, and they even taught me a thing or two about digraphs! It’s inspiring to see their engagement in learning. #CanDoKids

🚜⚙️📊Today, over 250 of our ALHS 9th graders took part in the "Made in Albert Lea" tour, and what an incredible experience it was! 🚜⚙️📊 Students had the unique opportunity to visit two local employers each, getting a firsthand look at potential career paths and the inspiring work happening right here in our community. Huge thank you to our 11 amazing partner employers who welcomed our students with open arms, knowledge, and inspiration: Arcadian Bank, Crossroads Trailers, Design Ready Controls, Good Steward Consulting, intellicents, Lou-Rich, MN Corrugated Box, Ruble Cattle Co., St. John's Lutheran Community, and Thorne Crest. Through this tour, students not only gained insight into diverse industries but also had the chance to explore the real-world applications of their studies and spark ideas for future career pathways. Field trips like this one empower our students to imagine their own futures right here in Albert Lea, showing them that their career dreams are possible with the right skills and dedication! 🌟💼

Principal Larson shared the book We Belong by Laura Purdie Salas with all Halverson students, sparking discussions about the importance of each student as part of the Halverson community. Students decorated puzzle pieces, which were then assembled on a bulletin board with help from some of our 5th graders. At Halverson, We Belong Together!
