🦑🦈 3rd Grade Spotlight!

Hawthorne's 3rd grade students have been hard at work creating a didactic wall all about giant squid and sharks. They’ve been diving deep into facts, vocabulary, and science to bring these ocean creatures to life.

Check out their awesome work! 🌊📚

Hope everyone enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving break with family and friends.

Today our elementary teachers dug into the question, “What does it take for all students to become effective writers?” and we are excited to welcome all of our Tiger students back, ready to ROAR into a great stretch of learning.

🎄✨ Happy December 1st, Hawthorne ✨🎄

We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. While you were relaxing, the Hawthorne staff somehow turned into elves. It seems the North Pole needed extra help and we answered the call.

We cannot wait to see our students back at school tomorrow. Your elves are ready for a magical December. ❤️💙🎁

One Team, One Dream and one very busy elf workshop.

Halverson Buddies Collaboration!
Halverson Buddies are in full swing as our 2nd and 5th graders came together for a special “I Am Thankful” writing activity. Fifth graders practiced their letter-writing skills while supporting our second graders in writing thoughtful sentences. The excitement was contagious when our second graders received heartfelt letters from their buddies - a wonderful way to build connections and celebrate thankfulness at Halverson!

🌟 Happy Monday, Hawthorne! 🌟

Today, Mrs. Madore’s multilingual learners have been busy showing what they know with Flashlight360. This tool helps students practice speaking and writing by looking at a photo and responding to a prompt, and each grade is shining in their own way.

2nd grade is showing what they know about change and adapting through the seasons.
🌊 3rd grade is showing what they know about the sea.
❤️ 4th grade is showing what they know about a great heart, both literal and figurative.
🪶 5th grade is showing what they know about the Nez Perce tribe.

We are proud of their hard work and their growth. Keep shining, Tigers! 💬✨📚

📚 Halverson teachers are ALways learning! 📚 All teachers who are responsible for reading instruction in the district are being trained to enhance their teaching. As Halverson works towards being certified in High Reliability Schools Level 2, this is evidence of "Teachers are provided with job-embedded professional development that is directly related to their instructional growth goals."

🇺🇸 Hawthorne Honors Our Veterans 🇺🇸

Today our school came together to recognize and honor the Veterans in our community. Our students sang with pride, listened with respect, and learned about the courage, service, and sacrifice that protect our freedoms.

As we looked around the room, we saw children standing tall, Veterans holding memories close, and families feeling proud. It was a reminder that bravery often lives in quiet stories, in moments of service we may never fully see, and in the everyday people who have given so much.

To our Veterans: thank you for your strength, your dedication, and the example you set for our students. We are grateful today and every day. ❤️💙🇺🇸

🇺🇸 Halverson honored our Veterans today with a Veterans Day assembly. 2nd graders sang "You're a Grand Old Flag", 3rd graders read an acrostic poem, 4th graders read a poem, and 5th graders read their thoughts on what Veterans Day means them. We had a flag folding ceremony from Post 56 and heard from our very own Sargent Major Enser. 🫡
